Whats been going on since i got Here

Hey guys, sorry its been a bit i have been going through a rough patch out here. So i worked a few days at Sanjel, ended up losing my job after guiding a large trailer right intot he shop wall. Been working at a temp agency since then, For a construction compan called Elan, we are building a 7 million dollar fed ex building. Not much has gone on out here, gone on a few dates and have met some awesome people. Anther positie thing, I have three possible job openings, Elan may hire me on, I also may be getting a job offer at Red Bull, and The temp agency I work for may have a Job opening on a camp job (just outside of swift current)

Met a girl today, she is super cool and very smart, very attractive and with some serously good prospects. Things are lookin gup for me again after that spurt of bad luck I had. The guys on the site I am working at gave me a few really cool things that I want to check out. Apparently right down the street from the site I am on, is a haunted school. They gave me a few good hiking spots to check out including one i really would like to see called the Ice Caves, they are waht they sound like. Glacial Caves.

The girl i met is into hiking as well so I think I may have an idea for our first date :) Other then that not a whole lot has gone down.

Calgary is a beautiful city and I wish I had my drinking team out here (Calgarians cannot drink) Hi to everyone out in the Peg. I miss you all. Hope you guys come out and visit me some time.

The Pre-amble+ The trip out

So for those of you who dont know much about my past I will start off this blog with a short description of me and my life.

I grew up in a small town south-east of Winnipeg called Lorette, I lived there for most of my life, until about 16 years old when i moved to the city, I was never a very popular kid when I was young but hey I had a few select friends, and they were of the highest caliber I could find.

I was being bullied so when I passed grade 6 my parents put me into a private school in Winnipeg (St. Emile school) where I met the guy who is to this day one of my best friends (Tim).

Tim and I ended up going to the same Highschool (St. Maurice High School) where I met my nerdy group of friends (Tim, Roy, Leo, Mark) these four people have played a huge role in my life to date.

After highschool I took a year off to do some work in the automotive trade, figured I liked doing it so I went to college for automotive mechanics. Here I met the group of friends I affectionatly call "The Drinking Team". (Since College this team has grown exponentially so if your name is not listed no offense these were the founding members) (Jeff, Kenton (Scruffy), Josh, Jordan, Renee (She was not in college with us but has been a part of the team since day one)).

Recently I decided to move to calgary to pursue career oppertunites in the oil and gas field. That is where our tale truely begins.

The day I left for calgary was an interesting one. I could not sleep, so i stayed up late ( around 5am) and wrote farewell letters to the family. Finally I managed to pass out, when I was woken up at 6 am, it was time, time to say my first familial goodbye. My sister had school that morning and she catches the bus relaly early, it was very important to me that I say my goodbye to her. After crying in a loving embrace with the little sister that I would not see for some time, she left. I couldn't sleep again, so I stayed up mulling htings over crying with my parents.

8AM: I had just bought a new car about a week ago, and just got the safety on it the day before, so it was not registered yet. So my father and I went down to MPI as soon as we could hoping to get it registered fast to hit the road fast. We got to MPI safety in hand and ready to go, we were told we needed a Bill of Sale and not just a TOD, a little ticked we called my cousin and arranged to have her sign the Bill.

9 AM: We have a signed bill of sale and a TOD, we get back to MPI, the clerk gets partway through the paperwork when she realizes that my cousin and her husband are both listed as owners on the car, we are informed that my cousins husband must sign both as well. Back on the road we go.

10 AM: we are in Tuxedo, my cousins husband is a landscaper and we had to drive across the city to get these signatures. We get both signed, and make our way back to MPI.

11 AM: FINALLY, the car is registured and ready to hit the road, we head home. I grab my car and hit the road, no not on the way to calgary yet, I still have a few errands to run.

11:15 AM: I talk to my old boss at Ford, asking for a referance, which he gives me.

11:30 AM:  Off to future shop to get a laptop. Dad is waiting for me there with my new laptop waiting for me to pay.

11:31 AM: Dad and I are here but where is mom.

11:35 AM: Where is mom?

11:37 AM: Oh there she is walking out of the store.

11:45 AM: I got to the hospital to say what will most likely be my final goodbye to my grandfather.  As we are leaving this is the first moment when i have not been rushing about, I start to have second thoughts about this. Questioning what I am doing leaving my family. I make myself the 6 month promise. "I WILL NOT come back to Winnipeg for at least 6 months"

Noon: We stop for gas at pembina and the perimiter, this is it we are about to go.... Oh one more thing, I need a slurpee for the road, (once a Winnipeger always a Winnipeger)

The rest of the day is soaked up with driving, very little in the way of scenery till you get to about swift current. then there is tons, I made my mother listen to ountry tunes most of the way out :).

We stayed in swift that night hoping for an early start the next morning.

We are out of the hotel by 8:45ish

8:47 AM: Timmy hoes run

8:50 on the road again

we made it to calgary around 2 pm local time and met my roommates. the scenery out here is gorgeous and I am in awe of the city. It is massive, fastest we can drive (legally) in winnipeg is what 80 on bishop grandin, the number 2 south (deerfoot trail) is 100 kph, just nuts and kinda imposing at first.

the next daay was getting settled in, I went for a drive around my new home city.

the next morning (sunday) mom and dad hit the road back for Winnipeg, this...was....aweful. for those of you who dont know, I am super close to my family, and my parents are incredible people. To say goodbye to them and know it was more perminant then "see you sunday night when i get back from the cabin", was absolutly heartwrenching. we cried a long time together, and even after they left, we were all still crying. (im pretty sure dad had to stop for a bit before he hit the road to clear his mind and his eyes so he could actually see)

Thats about all there is to say so far. But I will write here often to keep  you all up to date on the cool things that are going on up here.

OH YAH, last weekend friday the 5th through sunday the 7th, I spent in Edmonton hanging out with Jeff (I had an plan and we so followed through (if your on the drinking team you know the plan))

Farewell till next time... and I lost the Game
